People nowadays love to have cats as their pets. Because of this many hybrid varieties have been bred. One type of hybrid is the Serengeti breed. It was cross bred between an Oriental and Bengal breeds. The Bengal cat has an origin which is from the Asian leopard cat. These Bengal cats possess only some of the genetic characteristics of the leopard due to generations of breeding.
The Serengeti breed has the long ears of the Oriental breed and the spotted markings of the Bengal breed. No genes or
blood lines from the leopard or tiger where used, using these lines would bring up the wild nature of these cats and could be dangerous to their owners and breeders.
This type of cat is has fur coats in solid black, ebony smoke, ebony silver and Tabby by The International Cat Association (TICA). Breeders of the snow spotted Serengti variety in the UK are working towards in recognition for the breed through the TICA.
