History of the Serengeti
The Serengeti kitten is a new breed of exotic cat. In the ninety’s people showed interest in the appearance of wild cats and loved to have them as pets, but because of their wild nature it was impossible to have these lovey animals without proper housing and training. The development of this Serengeti kitten history began in 1994 nearly 20 years after the evolution of the Bengal cat. This Bengal cat was found by Jean Mills. 20 years later Karen Sausman found this breed variety by breed and oriental breed and a Bengal cat. She was an experienced breeder for more than forty years. She has breeding grounds which she called ‘Kingsmark Farms” that is located in California. Karen showed interest in the development of domesticating wild cats with the appearance of several other breeds.

Even though she liked to have the appearance of Serengeti kitten, she was very clear not to have any wild blood in her new breeding variety. So she decided to cross the oriental cat and the Bengal cat. The oriental cat was used to give the wild appearance such long rounded tipped ears, and spotted fur pattern just like the Bengal cat.
The oriental cats were selected because of their coat, and the spotted tabby appearance where as Bengal cats was selected in order to get round eyes and spotted fur patterns. Karen showed great effort in developing this type of breed which resembles the wild cats without using any wild cat genes. This Serengeti breed made history and it was a dream come true of cat lovers around the world. People loved this breed because of their wild animal like appearance but knew with confidence that their pets did not possess any wild nature in them.
